(2). Dhauti  (Kunjal Kriya)

It   is called Kunjal Kriya in medical words (also known as Vaman Dhauti) is an ancient yogic cleansing technique used to detoxify the stomach and digestive system. It is a part of the Shatkarma practices in yoga, which are six purification techniques outlined in Hatha Yoga texts. The kriya involves drinking saline water and inducing vomiting to cleanse the stomach of toxins, mucus, and other impurities.

Steps for Practicing Kunjal Kriya

Preparation:

  • Choose a calm, private space where you can perform the kriya comfortably.
  • Use lukewarm water with salt (approximately one teaspoon of salt per liter). Ensure the water is not too salty, as it can cause discomfort.
  • Perform the practice early in the morning on an empty stomach.

Drinking Water:

  • Sit in a squatting position or stand upright.
  • Drink the saline water quickly until you feel your stomach is full, typically about 6–8 glasses.

Inducing Vomiting:

  • Bend slightly forward over a sink or bowl.
  • Insert your two fingers into your throat to stimulate the gag reflex and induce vomiting.
  • Allow the water and any impurities to come out naturally.

Resting:

  • After completing the process, rinse your mouth and take some time to rest.
  • Avoid eating or drinking anything immediately afterward. Wait for at least 30 minutes.

Benefits of Kunjal Kriya

  • Digestive Health: Clears the stomach of undigested food, mucus, and toxins, promoting better digestion.
  • Respiratory Relief: Helps with respiratory issues like asthma, bronchitis, and sinus congestion by removing mucus buildup.
  • Detoxification: Purifies the gastrointestinal tract and removes harmful substances.
  • Mental Clarity: Improves focus and reduces mental stress by balancing internal energies.

Precautions and Contraindications

  • Medical Conditions: Avoid practicing Kunjal Kriya if you have ulcers, high blood pressure, hernia, and a heart problem.
  • Pregnancy: Not suitable for pregnant women.
  • Guidance: Beginners should practice under the guidance of a qualified yoga teacher or naturopathy Doctor.
  • Frequency: This kriya should not be practiced too often—once every few weeks as advised by a  Naturopathic Doctor.

(3).Jalneti:

Jal Neti is a traditional yogic practice used for cleansing the nasal passages. It is part of the Shatkarma (six purification techniques) in Hatha Yoga and is highly effective in maintaining respiratory health and overall well-being. The process involves passing saline water through the nasal passages to remove mucus, dirt, and allergens, promoting clear and unobstructed breathing.

How to Perform Jal Neti

  1. Preparation:
    • Use a neti pot, a small vessel with a spout specifically designed for this practice.
    • Prepare lukewarm saline water (add 1/2 teaspoon of non-iodized salt to 500 ml of water).
    • Ensure the water is comfortably warm and not too salty, as overly saline water can irritate the nasal lining.
  2. Positioning:
    • Stand in a slightly bent position over a sink, keeping your back straight.
    • Tilt your head to one side so that one nostril is higher than the other.
  3. The Process:
    • Insert the spout of the neti pot into the upper nostril.
    • Pour the saline water gently, allowing it to flow through the nasal passage and exit through the lower nostril.
    • Breathe through your mouth during the process to avoid inhaling water.
    • Repeat the process on the other side by tilting the head in the opposite direction.
  4. Post-Cleansing:
    • After finishing, gently exhale forcefully through both nostrils to expel any remaining water or mucus.
    • Avoid blowing too hard to prevent damage to the nasal tissues.
    • Dry the nasal passages completely before finishing.

Benefits of Jal Neti

  1. Cleanses the Sinuses: Removes mucus, allergens, and pollutants, reducing sinus congestion.
  2. Improves Breathing: Enhances the flow of air through the nasal passages, making breathing easier.
  3. Reduces Allergies: Alleviates symptoms of hay fever and other nasal allergies.
  4. Prevents Infections: Minimizes the risk of colds and sinus infections by keeping the nasal passages clean.
  5. Supports Mental Clarity: Balances the right and left nostrils, aiding in mental focus and calmness.
  6. Enhances Pranayama and Meditation: Prepares the body for deeper breathing exercises and meditation by clearing the nasal passages.

Precautions

  1. Quality of Water: Use clean, filtered, or boiled water to avoid infections.
  2. Salinity: Ensure the salt concentration is correct to prevent discomfort or irritation.
  3. Frequency: Jal Neti can be practiced daily or as needed, but avoid overdoing it as it may dry out the nasal passages.
  4. Health Conditions: Avoid practicing Jal Neti if you have severe nasal congestion, infections, or ear pain. Consult a yoga expert or healthcare provider .

Advanced Practices

After mastering basic Jal Neti, practitioners can explore Sutra Neti (using a thread for nasal cleansing) under expert guidance

(4).Steam-bath:

steam bath is a therapeutic treatment that involves exposure to warm, moist air in an enclosed space, typically a steam . The practice has been used for centuries across various cultures for its numerous health benefits, particularly for detoxification, relaxation, and skin rejuvenation.

How a Steam Bath Works

  • A steam bath uses water vapor generated by boiling water, filling the room with moist heat.
  • The temperature in a steam bath is typically maintained between 110°F to 120°F (43°C to 49°C), with nearly 100% humidity.
  • The warmth opens up pores, increases circulation, and promotes sweating, which helps flush out toxins.

Benefits of a Steam Bath

(6).Acupuncture& Acupressure:

Acupressure is a traditional healing technique rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), similar in principle to acupuncture but without the use of needles. Instead, it involves applying physical pressure to specific points on the body, called acupoints, to stimulate natural healing processes and balance energy flow, known as Qi (Chi).

How Acupressure Works

  • Acupressure is based on the concept of meridians, which are energy pathways in the body. Blockages or imbalances in these pathways can lead to illness or discomfort.
  • By applying pressure to specific points along these meridians, acupressure aims to:
    • Remove blockages.
    • Restore the free flow of Qi.
    • Improve overall health and well-being.

Techniques in Acupressure

  1. Finger Pressure: Using fingertips to press on acupoints.
  2. Knuckles or Tools: For deeper or more sustained pressure.
  3. Circular Motion: Gentle circular rubbing over acupoints.
  4. Tapping or Vibrating: To stimulate blood flow and Qi movement. The pressure can be gentle or firm, depending on the sensitivity of the individual and the condition being treated.
